Nimrod Explorer left Cairns at 4:30pm on Tuesday and headed north to the Ribbon Reefs. On Wednesday dives were done at Flare Point, Steve’s Bommie, Andy’s Postcard, Phil’s Bommie and Pixie’s Pinnacle. At Ribbon Reef 3 there was a manta ray. The vis was a bit down from the previous week at the ribbon reefs. That night after the dives, Captain Grey decided to cross to Osprey Reef. Due to the weather the crossing was a bit rough.
On Thursday the morning was overcast with some rain, but the afternoon was clear. The day’s diving was done at Raging Horn, Castles and Admiralty. The vis at Osprey Reef was “cracking” according to Dive Instructor Dan. That night everyone had a good night’s sleep. The dives on Friday were very good. On the first dive at West Wall divers saw an eagle ray. A silver tip was seen on the second dive at North Horn. The next dives were done at East Wall and Tunnels. Since the weather remained decent through the day, the boat headed back to Lizard Island after the last dive of the day.
