All of the guests arrived onboard Nimrod Explorer at 16:15. After introductions and the safety briefing, Skipper Trent Thomas and his crew headed their boat north to the Ribbon Reefs. They arrived at Pixie’s Pinnacle at 6:30am for the morning dive. The next two dives were done at Lighthouse Bommie, where divers were surrounded by thousands of fish and were even visited by two turtles all in 20m visibility! After the last two dives at Pixie Gardens, the intrepid divers headed out for Osprey Reef.
The crossing to Osprey Reef was a bit rough, but they made it and the diving made it more than worth a rough night. The first dive of the day was a drift dive on Raging Horn in clear water with 30m visibility. All Nimrod divers saw the two manta rays who decided to investigate their human visitors. A second dive was done at Raging Horn, followed by dives at Castles and at Admiralty.
The diving just seemed to get better! During the first dive on Friday at West Wall there was an eagle ray, and later in the day at North Wall two divers spotted a great hammerhead shark and a silver tip shark! After a fantastic day of diving at Osprey Reef, Nimrod Explorer headed to Lizard Island and arrived early in the morning on Saturday.
